Lou Weir

Lou Weir – Attorney

Attorney Lou Weir has been practicing for over 25 years, specializing in Social Security Disability. As an expert concentrating on Social Security law, he works on giving the best possible representation to his clients. Many firms try to service all types of cases and may not have much depth of experience in any particular category.

Mr. Weir is a graduate of the University of Michigan and received his Juris Doctor degree from Cooley Law School. He has been licensed to practice law in Michigan since 1981. He practices before all state and federal courts, and has had many successful appeals at the Courts of Appeal and The Michigan Supreme Court.

With offices in Brighton and Ann Arbor, Mr. Weir handles cases in Oakland, Wayne, Washtenaw, Livingston, Genesee, Ingham and Jackson counties. He is currently a council member of the Social Security section of the Michigan State Bar Association. Because of his expertise in Social Security Disability, Mr. Weir has been invited to speak to various groups concerning these issues.

 

Tara McKenzie

Tara McKenzie – Attorney

Ms. McKenzie is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She has practiced for over 15 years. She worked as an advisor to the automobile manufacturing industry for over ten years. She helped in the selection of experts and the development of discovery and responses to complex litigation. Her great attention to detail and ability to synthesize complex information led to her success in this field. As a result, she has been a guest lecturer for engineering groups, including those at the University of Michigan.

Ms. McKenzie has served as a volunteer for HERO of Washtenaw County and served as President in 2000 and 2001. Through this organization, she has mentored homeless people, helping them to overcome obstacles to housing and a stable lifestyle.

Tara combines her ability to understand and explain complex issues with persistence in the courtroom. Her natural curiosity and interest in the law and medical issues keeps her learning more and more about each case. This has made her a very effective and successful Social Security Disability attorney. She wins a very high percentage of her cases.

Rosalee Hurn

Rosalee Nattress – Paralegal / Office Manager

Rosalee attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where she received her AS in paralegal studies, and a BS in Business Administration Marketing. During her studies, she was an active member of the student body, serving as a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, Advertising Committee for American Marketing Association and Public Relations Committee for Eyrie Magazine. Furthermore, she was a member of the Speech and Debate Team, where she was trained in persuasive speaking and sound presentation. During her debate career, she advanced to elimination rounds at the National Liberty and Richmond University Debate Tournaments. While at Clarion, Rosalee obtained a paralegal internship through Attorney Ray Scott of Clarion, Pennsylvania. Additionally, she completed a marketing internship at the Clarion Hospital to support the marketing foundation of her undergraduate degree. Clarion University chose to feature Rosalee in the American Bar Association for the Approved Paralegal Program Graduate Success Stories.

Following graduation, Rosalee accepted a paralegal position at The Travis Law Firm in Edinboro, PA, where she assisted with all criminal and social security disability cases. After three years at The Travis Law Firm, Rosalee was extended a paralegal/office manager position for Penn State Student Legal Services, where she was responsible for facilitating the completion of case-related tasks and managed the department’s financial expenses. Within her first year of employment at Penn State, she was appointed Co-Chair for Penn State Young Professionals, which was comprised of 408 members. To advance and benefit the organization, Rosalee organized social events and professional development opportunities for all members. After three years working for Penn State, she moved to Michigan from Pennsylvania to be with her fiancé and accepted a paralegal/office manager position at Weir & Mckenzie. Rosalee assists with all social security disability claims, marketing, and manages the firm’s financial expenses. Rosalee is also studying her Master’s in Public Administration, and is scheduled to graduate in the Fall of 2018.

She has a natural enthusiasm and ability to learn new things. Rosalee quickly displayed a great aptitude for the practice and added to our ability to provide superior personal service to our clients.

Jeanette Mason

Jeanette Mason – Case Manager

Ms. Mason has worked as a legal assistant in Social Security Disability for over 15 years. She works as a case manager developing our cases for the initial level and for appeals. She handles many special projects within the Firm. Jeanette has a special talent for resolving difficult or unusual issues that sometimes face our prospective clients. As a “veteran” employee in the office, Jeanette is also very instrumental in the on-going training of our newer employees.

Jeanette has high intelligence and persistence. This comes in handy for working with the Social Security Administration which can be confusing and difficult. She can solve many difficult problems which arise in cases because of this.

Laurie Louria

Laurie Louria – Administrative Assistant

Laurie Louria has a Bachelor’s degree from Oakland University and a graduate degree from Michigan State University. Prior to working at Weir & McKenzie, Laurie worked in the airline industry as a Flight Service Manager managing a team of over 500 flight attendants. She also worked in local television as a Marketing Director and Director of Creative Services, in which she was responsible for all communication with the viewing audience and advertisers, as well as organizing community outreach, public service, and assisting with local programming decisions. Laurie’s experience in customer service makes her an excellent communicator. She brings compassion and understanding to the workplace and enjoys providing outstanding customer service. Laurie’s attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple assignments at one time makes her an invaluable asset in the office. In her spare time, Laurie enjoys volunteering in the community and spending time with family and friends.
